‘ADOPTING TECHNIQUES CAN FACILITATE INCREASE IN CROP YIELD’

Attending to different details in animal husbandry can help in increasing the productivity of cattle. Similarly, adopting some techniques can facilitate convenient increase in the crop yield. Such aspects will be among the facets which will be discussed and demonstrated at the 103rd Kisan Mela and agro-industrial exhibition to be organised by the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) from February 24. The university vice chancellor, professor AK Mishra said this while addressing the media at a Press conference here on Thursday. Referring to the target set by prime minister Narendra Modi of doubling the income of farmers by 2022, he said that in the Kisan Mela information on important aspects about farming and animal husbandry will be provided to farmers. They will also be exposed to latest techniques apart from which scientists will also advise them on augmenting their income.
The vice chancellor said that a demonstration on ideal animal husbandry will also be held in the Kisan Mela. The demonstration will provide information on ideal fodder, points to be considered during milking, proper use of cow dung and cow urine and the collection of water and its use in animal husbandry which will help farmers augment their income through animal husbandry without any extra expenditure. Along with animal husbandry, the Kisan Mela will also focus on aspects like poultry, pisciculture, goat rearing, rabbit rearing, apiculture and the cultivation of fruits and flowers. He also talked about encouraging organic farming through animal husbandry and its effect on improvement of the soil composition. He also spoke about aspects of farming like cluster farming and mechanisation.
The 103rd Kisan Mela and agro-industrial exhibition will be inaugurated on the afternoon of February 24 by the governor Krishan Kant Paul. At the conclusion on February 27, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh will be the chief guest while chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and state Agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal will be special guests.
