Activists question plan for third Assembly building during pandemic
The members of Gairsain Rajdhani Nirman Abhiyan termed the plan of constructing the State’s third Vidhan Sabha building in Raipur, Dehradun as a foolish political decision by the State Government. In a meeting of the association on Sunday, the members said that implementing this plan would lead to a total waste of money and resources of the State. According to one of the members Manoj Dhyani, when the whole country is suffering due to Covid-19 pandemic, this plan appears to be superfluous. Therefore, the members of the association demanded the government to utilise the said resources to construct an International Covid-19 and Other Viruses Research Centre and Hospital in Uttarakhand for the welfare of the public. Moreover, they also demanded the government to give the manufacturing contracts of the State only to the residents of Uttarakhand in order to provide employment and livelihood to the youngsters.
It is pertinent to mention here that the state government is planning to build a new complex at Raipur housing both the Vidhan Sabha and secretariat. Apart from the existing Vidhan Sabha building in Dehradun, one also exists in the summer capital Gairsain.
