Action to be taken against those responsible for irregularities in Children Play Zone
Regarding an alleged case of irregularities in the building of the children play zone in Gandhi Park, the officers have forwarded the inquiry report to the department concerned. Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that actions would be taken against whosoever would be found guilty in the matter.
According to the information received from the sources, an inquiry team was constituted after Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) found some irregularities in the work of building the children play zone. It is learnt that after the inquiry was over the team has submitted a detailed report recently to the officials. The inquiry team is said to have found some fault points in the attractive rides for the children. Sources further said that security clearance had not been taken in the matter of the installation of toy train.
Queried over it, the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, “We have received a report which indicates fault points in the children play zone. The report has further been forwarded to the departments concerned. Appropriate actions would be taken against those responsible for it.”
It is pertinent to mention that the children play zone which drew a critical glare soon after its inauguration in June 2018. In a Right to Information, (RTI) filed by an activist, it came to light that the company appointed for constructing the park had spent much more in installing the rides than needed. After the allegation had come to fore, then municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar Jogdande had constituted a team to investigate the matter. The inquiry report prepared by the probe team has recently been submitted to the commissioner.
