Action plan to be made for anti-encroachment drive again
In pursuance of Uttarakhand High Court orders to remove encroachments, Dehradun district magistrate (DM) C Ravishankar stated that an action plan is being prepared to take firm steps regarding the orders after monsoon.
The anti-encroachment drive has been undertaken on a slow pace for some time now. According to sources, the officials concerned have again started receiving complaints of encroachments from various parts of the city where the drive to remove such encroachments was conducted in the past.
Ravishankar said, “We are conducting drive to remove encroachments from the city regularly. A couple of days ago a drive was conducted to remove encroachments on the Mussorie Road. Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is also active in removing some encroachments from the city area. Also, if we get any complaints a team is sent for verification and removal of encroachments. Such isolated drives are regularly being conducted by us however it is true that the pace is slow at present. For that we are planning to prepare an action plan which is likely to get executed after monsoon.”
Adding more about illegal mining near Rispana and Bindal he said, “Some work has been permitted by the department concerned as the deposit of stones in few areas can cause water logging problem in the nearby areas especially in monsoon. However if any such work is being continued without proper permission then I would request the media to inform us and strict actions will be taken against it accordingly.”
