Act against fake orgs using names of national, int’l institutions: DG law & order
The director general (DG), Crime, Law and Order Ashok Kumar has directed all the district in-charges of police to take strict action against such fake organisations which are operational by names which are similar to national and international organisations like Human Rights Commission, Vigilance and Anti- Corruption.
In a circular, Ashok Kumar said that there are people who are running fake organisations which are similar in name with institutions like human rights commission, vigilance and anti corruption. He said that by using such names, these people are confusing the people and in many cases, they put pressure on unsuspecting people and extort money or take undue favours from them. These people show them off as chairmen, members or office in charges of some fake organisations and use logos which are like the logos of international or national institutes, he said.
The DG added that such people are also involved meddling with the works of many government departments and police.
In the order, Kumar directed the police officers to take action on such fake organisations under Emblems and Names (prevention of improper use) Act of 1950 for using logos similar to those of international and national institutes. He further said that since some people also put such logos on the registration plates of their vehicles, action under Motor Vehicle (MV) Act should also be taken against them.
The DG crime, law and order also made an appeal to the people to remain alert on such fake organisations and register complaints against them with the local police without the least hesitation.
