About 100 people arrive on the first day of the reopening of Mandi
On the first day of the resumption of wholesale vegetable and fruit market in Niranjanpur Mandi, only about 100 people including vendors and suppliers visited the market as many were not aware of the reopening of the Mandi from Monday. This was stated by the head of Dehradun Mandi Samiti, Rajesh Sharma. He informed that the decision of reopening the Niranjanpur Mandi was announced late on Sunday evening by the administration due to which several people including vegetable suppliers were not aware of this development.
Since everyone came to know about this on Monday, vendors and suppliers will be visiting from Tuesday morning, said Sharma. Talking about the operation of shops in Mandi, Sharma informed that the wholesalers of vegetables are operating their business from 4 AM to 8 AM whereas the wholesalers of fruits are working from 9 AM to 1 PM in the Mandi. “Though only 50 loading vehicles with two people in each vehicle and 100 vendors holding authorised passes are allowed to enter in Mandi in the said time window, the entry is being given on first come first serve basis,” added Sharma. He further mentioned that no person aged more than 50 years old is allowed to enter in the Mandi premises including vendors, wholesalers and suppliers considering that the older people are more susceptible to the Covid-19 contagion.
Furthermore, he said that no wholesaler is allowed to enter the Mandi and operate the business unless they have been tested for Covid-19 disease.
