A new life gifted to a 3-year-old girl, claim Indiresh Hospital doctors
A significant achievement has been added to the realm of heart surgery in Uttarakhand with a successful heart surgery conducted upon a three-year-old girl at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital via the M I CS technique, claimed the doctors associated with the hospital while addressing a press conference on Saturday.
M I CS (Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery) is the super modern format of modern heart surgery, said the doctors and added that the heart surgeries are conducted by this method in the developed countries.
They further said that the heart surgery of small children is being conducted via the MICS technique under the supervision of Dr Ashok Kumar Jayant, head of the department of CTVS (Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery). Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital is an empanelled hospital under the ‘Rashtriya Bal Suraksha Karyakram’ for heart surgery of the children. Under this scheme, children of such very poor families which cannot afford heart surgery for financial reasons avail the benefits of heart surgery via MICS technique, free of cost, the doctors associated with the hospital claimed.
Providing details of the surgery done on the girl, the doctors, including the medical superintendent Dr Vinay Rai, C, said that Avni Rawat, a resident of Kalsi, Dehradun, had a hole in her heart since birth. “Avni was admitted at Indiresh Hospital on October 15 and the heart surgery was carried out on October 23.
