COVID-19: 223 test positive, 303 recover from virus in State on Sunday
In what could be considered a positive sign amidst the Covid-19 scenario, more people were reported to have recovered from the virus in the state on Sunday than the number of people reported to have tested positive for the same. While 223 persons tested positive for Covid-19 and five deaths of Covid patients were reported, a total of 303 patients recovered from the disease in the state on Sunday. According to the health department, the total number of active cases of Covid in the state is currently 3,130 while the recovery percentage is 93.65 per cent. The total cumulative positive Covid-19 cases detected in the state so far are 93,621 out of which 87,673 have recovered while a total of 1,573 deaths of Covid patients have been recorded so far. The death rate of Covid patients in the state currently stands at 1.68 per cent.
According to the departmental data, of the cases found positive on Sunday, the highest – 82 were reported from Dehradun district followed by 48 from Almora and 25 in Nainital. Among the other districts, two positive cases were reported in Bageshwar, five in Chamoli, zero in Champawat, 23 in Haridwar, nine in Pauri, three in Pithoragarh, one each in Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi, four in Tehri and 20 in Udham Singh Nagar. When it comes to the number of active cases, Dehradun leads the districts with 812 cases followed by Nainital with 609 cases and Haridwar with 398 cases. Among the other districts, Almora has 217 active cases with 150 in Bageshwar, 111 in Chamoli, 70 in Champawat, 132 in Pauri, 129 in Pithoragarh, 56 in Rudraprayag, 168 in Tehri, 156 in Udham Singh Nagar and 122 in Uttarkashi. At present there are a total of 11 containment zones in the state. These include three in Dehradun district, seven in Uttarkashi and one in Pauri.
