Police arrest four accused from Bihar in Reliance Jewels robbery case

Accused being brought to Doon on transit remand for detailed questioning

The police have arrested the main accused and three other accused in the Reliance Jewels showroom robbery. According to the police the arrests were made in Bihar. Officials informed that Dehradun police arrested the main accused Akhilesh alias Abhishek from Rajepura area of Muzaffarnagar in Bihar on Wednesday night. He was arrested after detailed questioning and three other accused identified as Ashish Kumar, Kundan Kumar and Mohammad Adil were taken into custody for questioning.

The police got to know from them that before any planned heist, the gangleader used to send money from jail to Adil through his henchmen. In turn, Adil used to give the cash to Kundan and other accomplices. They then used hawala and mobile phones to transfer the money online to others involved in the robbery.

After the robbery committed in Dehradun on November 9, Kundan gave Rs one lakh cash to the main accused Akhilesh on November 12 while accused Ashish sheltered the main accused in his home after the robbery. The four accused were presented in the court in Bihar for transit remand. The court approved the transit remand of all the four accused.

The police further informed that the four accused are being brought to Dehradun. Here they will be questioned in detail about the robbery committed in the jewellery showroom on November 9. The main accused, Akhilesh told the police that the gang had paid him Rs six lakh for a robbery in a Reliance Jewels showroom at Raiganj in West Bengal during April this year, the police said. All the four accused arrested by the police belong to Bihar.
