Parts of Dehradun now under MDDA have been developed 100 times in the past 60 years. In the city and its outskirts, construction works have been going on apace. Migration of people is also contributing to this trend. In this situation, preparing a master plan up to 2041 may prove a tough challenge for MDDA. Now focus must be laid on illegal constructions that have come up and are still coming up.
A glance at the master plan will help one understand the fact that in 1963, just five square kilometer area of Dehradun under the Dehradun Municipality was developed. Now its range has gone up to 505 square km area. Dehradun and Mussoorie are only included in this picture. Residential use in Dehradun city has gone up to 85 percent.
