5 newly made MCD zonal offices to start functioning soon
In order to serve the people living in all the 100 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) better, the civic body is now set on making the five zonal offices located in various areas of the city functional. The announcement of opening such offices had been made last month and it is learnt that the offices are likely to start functioning by the end of this week. All the officers and workers deputed at these offices would report in the area soon.
The municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, “MCD now consisting of 100 wards, it was imperative for us to open the zonal offices in various parts of the city. The offices are now ready to start functioning. They have been provided with computers and furniture. Once the offices start functioning services like issuance of birth and death certificate aside from tax payments and sanitation would be processed from the zonal offices. We have deputed 10 sanitation workers in every area and we have provided a cleanliness vehicle in every zonal office. We have also made sure that the complaints are acted upon promptly.’’
It is pertinent to mention that the zonal offices are coming up at Rajpur, MCD, Mathorowala, Harawala and Arcadia Hall in the city.
MCD to mark big, small drains for cleaning to stop monsoon waterlogging
To spare the city the recurrent water logging problem during the monsoon, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) would have the big drains marked and cleaned. Besides, it has decided to float tenders on the matter. This aside, even the small drains are being taken care of to ensure that there is no waterlogging during the rainy season, the civic body officers said.
Speaking about the matter, the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, ‘Before the advent of the rainy season, we have turned our focus on the drains in the city. This year, we have decided to mark the big drains of the city. Once they are marked the task of cleaning them will be given through tenders. We will also ensure that even the small drains in the city are cleaned to make the water logging problem minimal.’’
