48 Govt employees chosen for CM’s Excellence and Good Governance Award
Awards constituted to encourage employees contributing to good governance
The birth anniversary of former prime minister, Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25 is celebrated across the nation as Sushasan Diwas (Good Governance Day). From this year, the State Government has decided to present the Chief Minister’s Excellence and Good Governance Award to government employees who have performed commendably in the field of good governance. A total of 48 government employees working in different capacities have been chosen for the awards this time. These employees were chosen for the award in group and individual categories based on the recommendations of the selection committee chaired by the chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh. They will be presented the awards on the eve of Republic Day. Congratulating all the selected government employees, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat exhorted all to work with dedication in the interests of the state and public. The chief minister said that it is only through good governance that better services can be provided to the citizens in the State and nation. Only when all the employees at all the levels work diligently will development every person in the state, he said.
The additional chief secretary (chief minister) Radha Raturi said that the decision to select government employees for this award was taken for the first time on the directions of the chief minister to develop a positive atmosphere and facilitate better services to all citizens in the state. Those chosen for the award include officials working as district magistrate, chief development officer, additional district magistrate, sub divisional magistrate, municipal commissioner, divisional forest officer, executive officer, block development officer, doctor, engineers of potable water- electricity, public works and irrigation departments, those in the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Paryavaran Mitra (sanitation workers) among others. Four awards will be presented in the group category for works done commendably with team spirit. Some of the officials involved in the investors summit, international Yoga day programme, Kedarnath reconstruction and Kosi river rejuvenation will be presented the award.
The aim of constituting the awards is to encourage the work of those who contribute to effective, transparent and corruption-free governance.
