The patient count increases to 2344 on Sunday; 50 patients discharged
The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients in Uttarakhand reached to 2344 on Sunday with the state health department reporting 43 new cases of the disease on the day. On Sunday, 50 patients were discharged from different hospitals of the state. A total of 1500 persons have so far recovered from the disease in the state.
On the day, 12 patients of the disease were reported from Haridwar district while 10 patients were reported from Chamoli district. Six patients each were reported from Tehri and Dehradun districts while four patients each surfaced from Pauri and Rudraprayag districts. In Almora and Uttarkashi districts one patient each was reported by the state health department.
On Saturday, 44 patients of the disease were discharged from the hospitals after their complete recovery while three were discharged in Bageshwar district. Two patients were discharged from Uttarkashi while one patient each got recovered from the disease in Uttarkashi and Almora districts.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 904 samples were found negative for the disease on Sunday. He added that reports of 4737 samples are still awaited by the department. On the day, a total of 1124 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 55819 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 4.86 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. The doubling rate of disease in the state now stands at 21.09 days while the recovery percent in the state is now at 63.94 percent. A total of 4737 persons are kept in institutional quarantine by the state health department.
The state now has 796 active patients of the disease. Dehradun with 202 cases is continuing to maintain its position at top of the table of Covid-19 positive active patients. On Sunday Tehri replaced Haridwar district and acquired second position with 114 active cases. With 109 active cases, Haridwar district is now at third position. Nainital district now has 96 active cases and is at fourth position in the state. Almora has 62 active cases while Pauri has 46 active patients of Covid-19. Udham Singh Nagar has 39 active while Pithoragarh district has 37 active cases of Covid-19. Uttarkashi has 32 active cases respectively while Rudraprayag and Chamoli have 20 active patients each. Bageshwar district now has 16 active cases while with three cases Champawat is at the bottom of the table of active cases in the state.
The administration has declared 106 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection in the state. Haridwar district has 57 containment zones while Dehradun district has 36 containment zones. The district administration has made ten containment zones in Tehri. In Udham Singh Nagar district two containment zones have been created while Uttarkashi has one containment zone.
