Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat presented the allotment letters for homes of economically weaker section at Transport Nagar phase II to 221 beneficiaries selected through lottery.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the chief minister said that the lottery system was used to keep the selection process transparent. Asking them to shift to their new homes at the earliest, Rawat said that on this Holi he would also visit them in their new homes. He said, “When the development of everyone is ensured, only then will all be able to take the nation forward. The new India envisioned by prime minister Narendra Modi will be free from poverty with homes for all along with drinking water and electricity supply. To ensure that the poor get the entire funds they are entitled to, Jan Dhan accounts were opened for them and the money is being transferred directly to their accounts. Now there is no middleman between the government and the poor. Further, Rs 6,000 is also being provided to farmers under Kisan Samman Nidhi.”
He further said that the government has started various schemes for the poor, labourers and farmers. What is needed is to ensure that the information about such scheme reaches the intended beneficiaries.The people also need to be aware themselves in order to benefit from the schemes, said the chief minister.
Speaking on the occasion, the Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that the Central and State Governments have started various schemes for the benefit of the poor, farmers and general public.
The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) vice chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastav said that beneficiaries had been selecte through lottery in December 2018. After their verification by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, 221 persons have now been presented with allotment letters for homes constructed in Transport Nagar phase II. The total cost of each unit is about Rs nine lakh. In this, the MDDA has provided Rs three lakh as subsidy. Out of the remaining Rs six lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh was provided under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by the Central Government while Rs one lakh was provided under Uttarakhand Jan Awas Yojana by the state government. As a result, the beneficiary will have to pay only Rs 3.5 lakh for the home. For this too, home loan facility has been arranged for through banks.
Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLA Khajan Das, Garhwal commissioner BVRC Purushottam, officials concerned and public representatives were also present on the occasion.
