Out of total 37 projects under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), only 16 ongoing projects are left to be finished which will be done by the end of the next year. Under this scheme, a musical water fountain was also installed recently in Gandhi Park. Talking about these projects, the nodal officer of AMRUT scheme in Dehradun, Ashish Kathait said that the Central Government had sanctioned a total Rs 217.78 crore for all the 37 projects in the year 2016. Out of 37 projects, there are 12 water supply projects, 11 sewerage projects, six drainage projects and 12 projects for the construction of parks, informed Kathait. So far 21 projects have been completed and the work of the remaining 16 projects is under process and they will be finished by December 2021. Meanwhile, the Gandhi Park and the children park adjacent to it will possibly reopen soon for the public and talking about the maintenance of all the pieces of machinery and types of equipment there, Kathait said that the operation and maintenance of these places is done under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and everything there will be available in well-functioning form whenever the public will be allowed to use them. Talking about the issue raised by some locals that the train in the children park was giving electric shocks to the visitors before the lockdown, he said that no such issue has been found there. The municipal commissioner had made a committee for this issue too and besides that, the PWD wing of the corporation also checked for any kind of possible electric shock but nothing was found there, added Kathait.
