Tally mounts to 18571; death toll touches 250
The northward march of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) is showing no signs of slowing down in Uttarakhand. Amid fears of the virus entering the dreaded community spread stage, eleven deaths and 658 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported on Saturday. The tally of the disease in the state has now mounted to 18571 while the death toll stands at 250. On Saturday, 400 patients of the disease were discharged from different hospitals of the state after which the number of recovered patients increased to 12524. The recovery percentage for Covid-19 in the state is 67.44 percent and out of the total samples tested 5.32 percent have tested positive for the disease. The doubling rate of the disease is 23.41 days and a total of 19721 samples are remaining to be tested in different labs of the state.
Six patients of the disease were reported dead at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Saturday. The dead here included a 14 year old boy. Three patients of Covid-19 were reported dead at Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital Haldwani on the day. Similarly one patient each was reported dead from Mahant Indiresh hospital and Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital.
The provisional state capital Dehradun continued to reel under the onslaught of the virus as authorities reported 179 patients of the disease on Saturday. Haridwar was close behind with 161 patients. In Udham Singh Nagar 90 patients were reported while Tehri reported 64, Almora 54, Nainital 45, Uttarkashi 19, Bageshwar 16, Pithoragarh 11, Champawat and Pauri six each, Chamoli five and Rudraprayag two cases of the disease.
Out of 400 patients discharged after recovery 187 are from Udham Singh Nagar, 82 from Dehradun and 51 from Nainital.
The state now has 5735 active patients of the disease with Haridwar jumping to the top position in the table of active patients with 1308 patients. Dehradun is in second position with 1268 active cases while Udham Singh Nagar slipped to third spot with 1245 active cases of the disease. Nainital has 754 active patients of Covid-19 while Tehri has 303, Uttarkashi 184, Almora 141, Champawat 134, Pauri 122, Pithoragarh 82, Bageshwar 76, Champawat 70 and Rudraprayag 48 active patients of Covid-19.
