108 ambulance service – CAMP to take over steering of ambulances from GVK EMRI on May 1
Work boycott by agitating employees causes problems to patients as only 30 % ambulances of the 108 service are operational
Amid agitation and work boycott call of the field workers of the emergency 108 ambulance Service, the GVK- EMRI has started the process of handing over of assets to the new company Community Action and Motivation Programme (CAMP). The new company would completely take over the operation of the emergency ambulance service from May 1.
Meanwhile the work boycott call given by the Uttarakhand 108 and KSS field employees association has affected the operation of the ambulance service in the state. Patients are continuing to face problems as less than 30 percent ambulances of the 108 service are operational.
When contacted the state head of the GVK -EMRI, Manish Tinku told The Pioneer that the process of handing over of the assets to CAMP would get completed on April 30. He claimed that the process of handing over is proceeding under cordial atmosphere.
The General Manager ( GM), Marketing of the CAMP, Pradeep Rai said that the company is all geared up to take the operation of emergency ambulance service. He said that the 600 employees have been recruited by the CAMP for the service. Rai claimed that 30 percent of the existing staff of the GVK EMRI has joined the new company and many employees would join on May 1.
Meanwhile the association of 108 ambulance employees has decided to start an indefinite hunger strike at Parade ground from April 30. The association wants that all the employees of the GVK -EMRI should be absorbed in the new company on the existing salary.
The state unit of the Congress party has extended full support to the agitation of the association of 108 ambulance employees. The Vice President of the state Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), President Pritam Singh would participate in Dharna at protest site on April 30.
