10% reservation for poor upper caste members a historic decision: Bansal
The 20 point programme implementation committee vice-chairman and Bharatiya Janata Party state general secretary Naresh Bansal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken a historical step with the Union cabinet approving provision of 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker members of general category.
Addressing the media persons at the BJP State office here on Tuesday, Bansal said that while caste based reservation was being provided, many persons from general category who were poor were being deprived of facilitating proper education for the children and employment opportunities. The decision taken by the Union Cabinet under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed the problems faced by such citizens. A large number of people from various religions and castes have welcomed this decision of the union cabinet.
Terming the decision as revolutionary, he expressed hope that all parties would support it in the parliament. Replying to media queries on whether the decision will be approved in the parliament and the Supreme Court if it is challenged there, he said that all parties should support this decision.
Further, he said that it is for the parliament to frame laws and for the supreme court to review the same if needed. The needful will be done if this decision is challenged in the apex court, he added. The BJP State media in charge Devendra Bhasin and party spokesman Virendra Singh Bisht were also present in the Press conference.
